"Hummingbird" is the finest Trumpy motor yacht in service today. She was the second to last Houseboat built by Trumpy, contract number 443. She has been in the care of her current owners for the past nine years and over the course of their ownership, they have funded a complete professional upgrade and refit.
Most recently, "Hummingbird" was repowered with twin 800 HP MAN diesels making her the fastest Trumpy ever - she is truly one of a kind! Having undergone extensive sea trials, she performs beautifully with a 14 - 16 knot cruise and a top speed on plane of 20 plus knots. In addition to the repower, new 15KW Kohler generators with factory soundproof boxes were installed as well (located forward of each engine instead of outboard, allowing for easier access to the engines and generators with more space in the engine room). The bottom was refastened in the bilge area below the engines (machine screws with nuts and washers) completing the refastening of the entire bottom.
"Hummingbird" is the highly sought after "galley-up" layout of the Trumpy houseboat. She also offers larger windows in the main salon (two of which open with original hand cranks) as well as windows aft to the aft deck. This provides lots of natural light and makes for a lovely, bright salon with wonderful panoramic views. Another benefit that sets "Hummingbird" apart from other houseboats is the fact that she offers a head for each of the three staterooms below as well as a day head in the main salon and one in the crew's quarters.
"Hummingbird" has three dedicated, full time professional caretakers (boat carpenter/engineer and two painter/varnishers) who, along with her meticulous owners, maintain her to impeccable standards. Her annual maintenance has just been completed, including fresh varnish (interior and exterior), topsides traditionally brush painted, full length solid teak and maple cabin soles polyurethaned and all the exterior decks (including flybridge deck) were Awlgrip painted with nonskid. In addition, the bottom was stripped to remove layers of old bottom paint. After it was stripped, the bottom was surveyed and the surveyor noted that it was in excellent condition and that "she will outlive us all". Two coats of red lead paint were applied to seal the bottom and then painted with new antifouling bottom paint before launching. She is in flawless condition and must be seen to be appreciated.
